Ma "Zimba" Style :::: Submitted by Van, United Kingdom
In spite of our current problems and the temporary uncertainty that looms over our great nation Zimbabwe, we are a people with a good background. It's easy, under the current circumstances, to forget that we come from a country with a strong history and a great heritage. We come from a continent where education, health and social security are a priority to parents for their siblings. They may not always have the resources, but they try. Parents who are willing to sell their last goat or chicken to educate their children. We take it for granted, but it's only when I read the European version of the New York Times on Friday, that I discovered - Zimbabwe has the highest literacy levels in Africa, at least 85% of the population.

So with this evidence at hand, I could lift my chin high and proclaim, that this is my world! It's no surprise brothers and sisters to read that Zimbabweans are taking control of the world in their own unique "Ma Zimba" style. They have the right background and deserve their place. Let it not alarm you that they are thriving in New York, London, Johannesburg - the worlds is our oyster! I now live in a country that once controlled over one third of the world. It's empire stretched over every corner of the globe. Today the British Empire has been reduced to just the British Isles and few Islands here and there, but the legacy of Great Britain lives for ever...British explorers searched for new undiscovered places in pursuit of this greatness. On arrival they planted their flag and their cultures throughout the world. Unrest at home, has forced many of us to be explorers. We have searched out new homes in different parts of the globe, but the time has come for us to plant our flag in these new found lands and leave our legacy. We have the background, the will, the determination and even the desperation to succeed. Let our background be the platform we use to conquer the world.

Our potential, must not be restricted to the physical borders of our small nation. Great Zimbabwe is not a landmark situated on the outskirts of Masvingo, or a myth in our history books. It's not limited by the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers, but it transcends those limitations, it is a part of who we are. It is the people that make Zimbabwe Great. Some people think that it will take a miracle to change things for Zimbabwe, but I feel that miracle is waiting to happen. You see the miracle is the people; it will come into effect when we realize our potential. God is the architect of this miracle, he destined us to be born Zimbabwean, it is therefore our birthright to achieve this greatness. I am certain that this miracle will lead to greatness, because I have faith in the designer.

The time has come for us to look beyond the gloomy clouds of uncertainty that hang over our Nation, they are deceitful, because beyond them shines a great ray of hope. Beyond them, I see a prosperous Sunshine City called Harare, I see fine blue skies over Bulawayo and I see a Great Zimbabwe a product of a people that never lost hope. A people whose self belief earned them a place amongst the great nations of this world. Our history supports this, without a history a people have no future. It is part of our present, because it is part of who we are and it can be our future...

So as we face the challenges that lie ahead, let us allow the miracle to unfold. Like the graceful opening of the petals of a beautiful flower, let every step we take, come to symbolise the unfolding of a beautiful story. A story about a people, an African Miracle. This is Inher Welt! In Deutsche that means - Your World! Excuse my German, but after spending a week in a "league of nations," with: a French woman who lives in London, a Welsh lady with Irish ancestry, an Iranian who prefers to be called Persian because of the possible incrimination and a Bavarian who has just returned to Berlin after living in South Africa for 10 years: I think I am justified in saying it is - My World! My fellow Zimbabweans, it is Your World, the time has come to cease it.  So as we look ahead, we can take our place in this world. Rub our shoulders with the best, knowing that we deserve our place. Our presence at this table is not a coincidence, nor a favour, but is justified by our background.

Finally just a thought that summarises all of what I said. Someone once said, "God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called." Friends are you called or will I still be waiting for a miracle to begin at the end of another year? If the answer to the former is an affirmative yes, then let this message propel you to new heights.
